Who is in charge of enforcing a child support order?

The Washington Division of Child Support is a part of the Washington Department of Social & Health Services. They have 9 field offices throughout the state.

Age of Emancipation

RCW 26.28.010 Determines the age of majority at age 18 unless otherwise specified in your order.

Statute of Limitations to enforce a child support order

WRCA 4.16.020(3) Within 10 years of the 18th birthday of the youngest child named in the order for whom support is ordered for an action to collect past-due child support that has accrued under an order entered after July 23, 1989.


WRCA 4.56.110(2) All judgments for unpaid child support that have accrued under a superior court order or an order entered under administrative procedure shall bear interest at the rate of 12%.
