Louisiana Child Support Information

A bill was signed July 2, 2010 by Governor Bobby Jindal; it is now referred to as Louisiana Act No. 872. A custodial parent's ability to utilize a private child support enforcement agency has now been eliminated.

We understand the need for regulations when it comes to private child support agencies. The sad part is no one within your state legislature was willing to listen to our side of the story. The side that involves all of you mothers and fathers that have struggled and continue to struggle with receiving the child support that is court ordered to be paid.

Your state legislators are taking away the rights of its citizens and that is wrong. You can thank Rep. JP Morrell for working so hard to force private companies out of your state. We know you need the help and it's unfortunate that those that are not owed child support cannot understand that all tools should be available to hold a parent accountable for providing for their child. Your only option at this point is your local child support enforcement office or a private attorney.

THE STATE OF LOUISIANA TOOK AWAY THE RIGHTS OF ITS CITIZENS TO USE OTHER OPTIONS IN ORDER TO ENFORCE A CHILD SUPPORT ORDER EFFECTIVELY.

Only 43% of Louisiana families receive their child support. 8% of a total of $1,387,509,0571 of arrearages owed in Louisiana was collected by the LA CSE.

THE NUMBERS SPEAK FOR THEMSELVES!

If you believe this is wrong and citizens' rights and opportunities should not be affected, write your state Senator or local Representative and request they review their policies.
